Dr. Kelley of Animal Oasis of the Rockies

Hi, my name is Dr. Katie Kelley. I am excited to be here and ready to take care of you and your pets!

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska.

Why did you want to become a vet?

That's always a hard question. I think my biggest thing is I've always had a big draw to animals. I feel like they make our lives better and more whole. I also love that a lot of the things we deal with are problems. I know it sounds weird, but I love puzzles and working through cases, trying to figure out how it all works.

What's your favorite part of being a vet?

Working through cases, getting to know the pets, but mostly getting to know you as well. Our staff makes an incredible crew and they do such a good job. Getting to know our clients and understanding what makes that human-animal bond so special to them is very rewarding.

What would people be surprised to know about you?

I seem super extroverted at work, but I am actually the biggest introvert. I go home and prefer a hot tea and a book over going out.

What is your spirit animal and why?

I had no idea what the answer to this was, but apparently, I've been told I am like an otter. It's actually really cute. I've been told it's because I like to be playful, have fun, and try to keep things as happy as possible.

If you could eat only one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

This is an easy one: pizza. Everybody likes pizza.

What is the best part of working at Animal Oasis of the Rockies?

As I already mentioned, the crew here is one of the best parts that I have really gotten to experience. Each person has their own unique personality, and the love and care they have for the pets and how they exhibit that in their relationships with each other and with you makes a huge difference.
